Project Details
Phosphoswitches controlling the timing of the circadian clock of Neurospora by modulation of long-range interactions (A16)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278001972
FRQ is a scaffold protein that serves as a pacemaker of the circadian clock of Neurospora. It consists largely of intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) and is regulated by slow multisite phosphorylation through bound CK1. In project A16, we will use biophysical and FRET-based methods to investigate how structural elements separated by IDRs interact over long distances and how multisite phosphorylation of IDRs influences these interactions triggering time-delayed conformational changes.
