The internal gravity wave model IDEMIX (Internal Wave Dissipation, Energy and Mixing) forms the backbone of energetically consistent mixing parameterizations and has been a key part of several CRC projects in the previous phases. We developed several improvements of the IDEMIX concept and now aim for a synthesis: A rigorous evaluation of IDEMIX in order to provide recommendations to the wider ocean modelling community. We will continue our efforts to characterize the variability of internal wave spectral parameters observations and numerical models, focusing on full-depth observational data and the new parametric IDEMIX model.
