Project Details
Electrically modulated magnetoelectric sensors (A07)
Subject Area
Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 286471992
In project the inverse magnetoelectric effect is used for the excitation of high-frequency resonance modes of the sensor system and subsequent inductive read-out with a pick-up coil. This read-out reduces the main noise contributions to the type and configuration of the magnetostrictive layer used for the detection of external magnetic fields. In the work program, novel resonator structures and sophisticated magnetic multilayer systems will be investigated in order to improve the effect size and the signal-to-noise ratio, which leads to improved sensitivity and detection limits.
