Techniques for atmosphere-ocean wave coupling ((06) M06)
Subject Area
Mathematics
Oceanography
Oceanography
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 274762653
Techniques will be developed to quantify the coupling between the atmosphere and the ocean through the formation and breaking of ocean surface waves. These techniques consist of a numerical implementation of diffuse interface methods to the thermodynamically-consistent, and fully coupled simulation of the air-water interface, as well as a field experiment designed to measure simultaneous airflow and ocean wave coupling together with upper ocean turbulent energy dissipation.
