Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268236062
The support projects Z02 and Z03 provide key scientific services for all CRC researchers with regard to data management/spatial data analyses and ground-based observations/experiments, respectively. Next to building and maintaining key data and observational infrastructures such as the CRC data base, weather station network in the Atacama Desert and irrigation experiments, Z02 and Z03 play an important role with regard to the legacy of the CRC. One of the main tasks of Z03 within the 3rd funding period is to hand-over the weather station network (20 stations) in the Atacama Desert to our Chilean partners at the UCN. To goal is to sustainably maintain this unique observational network for the decades to come and to implement the data acquisition into the national Chilean weather station network. One of the main tasks of the Z02 project will be to support the transfer of process data into its spatial context in the form of thematic maps, e.g. with regard to mapping organic matter or water availability (fog, dew) in the Atacama Desert.
