Technical support for mass-spectrometry, protein crystallography and bioinformatics (Z01*)

Subject Area Biology
Term from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192445154

Project Description

Mass-spectrometry, protein crystallography and bioinformatics analysis are important approaches taken in many projects of the Collaborative Research Centres consortium. This service project provides support in these technologies through three Competence Centers of the Philipps-Universität. The Competence Centre for Mass Spectrometry offers multiple services ranging from elemental analysis by ICP-MS, identification and quantification of small molecules and proteins, intact protein-measurement, analysis of post-translational modifications to automated HDX-mass spectrometry. The Competence Centre for Protein Crystallography supports protein production, and provides services in protein crystallization and solving of crystal structures. The Competence Centre for Laboratory Automation and Genomics supports RNAseq experiments and genome re-sequencing. Bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analysis of these data are offered.
