Mechanisms of sensing and response to environmental cues by fungal cell wall components (E09*)

Subject Area Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192445154

Project Description

In this project our group focuses on the structural biology of fungal cell walls and their components. After having studied the structural repertoire and specificity of fungal adhesins we will now combine biochemical, structural and functional approaches for studying cell wall-anchored proteins, which are crucial for cell wall cross-linking, integrity and remodelling. By advancing our understanding of the complex ultrastructure of fungal cell walls we will provide structural cues for the development and optimization of fungicides.
