Relaxation pathways for collective electronic excitations (B06)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term since 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278162697

Project Description

The project employs femtosecond plasmon polariton pulses to create controlled strong plasmonic and electronic non-equilibrium situations. Surface plasmon polariton fields like skyrmions, merons, or chiral fields carrying orbital angular momentum lead the way to more complex topological field polarizations. These collective excitations and their decay are analyzed in a time-resolved photoemission electron micro-scope. Such studies will also be of interest for THz plasmonics.
