Project Description

We plan to realize bilayer/ladder Hubbard systems in which one layer/leg can act as a reservoir of particles, spins, temperature, and entropy for the other layer/leg. We will study the thermodynamics of such a system and whether and how the nearby reservoir affects the equation of state as compared to an isolated two-(one-)dimensional Hubbard model. We will investigate whether we can employ the reservoir layer/chain as a entropy reservoir or to form new quantum phases.
