Project Description

In this theory-experiment collaboration we investigate dynamical effects enabled by coupling of photon Bose-Einstein condensate to a dye reservoir. We will study photons confined in a ring structure, where phase and current fluctuations of the condensate are enhanced by the grand canonical nature of the photon-dye system. We will also investigate the response dynamics of the system to quenches through the phase transition, and search for a modified Kibble-Zurek dynamic in the open condensate. Moreover, we will investigate unconventional fluctuations of density correlations at the non-Hermitian phase transition between the oscillatory and the biexponential phase of the condensate.
