Enormous progress has been made in the past decades towards a reformulation of nuclear physics within the well founded and systematically improvable framework of chiral effective field theory. In this project, we will use this approach to perform detailed derivations of the electromagnetic and axial nuclear exchange currents and study electroweak reactions in few-ucleon systems that are accessible by exact numerical ab initio methods. In particular, we will for the first time construct a regularized version of the electroweak exchange currents that is fully consistent with the underlying chiral nuclear forces, and apply these in a cornucopia of reactions.
