Mechanistic analyses of epigenetic stress memory in simple and complex Archaeplastida (C07)

Subject Area Biochemistry
Term from 2016 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190578797

Project Description

Plants can be primed and “remember” diverse environmental cues such as temperature stresses to tolerate extreme subsequent stresses. This project aims to comprehensively elucidate the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of temperature stress memory in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and diverse ecological isolates of the unicellular red alga model Cyanidioschyzon merolae. Overall, the project will shed light on the role of nuclear architecture, chromatin accessibility and evolutionary conservation of memory mechanisms of stressful temperature events
