Socio-environmental transformations and interdependencies (F02)

Subject Area Physical Geography
Term from 2016 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290391021

Project Description

Project F2 investigates external and internal drivers of, and the environmental response to cultural transformations using the on-site, near-site and off-site palaeoenvironmental data – palynological and sedimentological archives from archaeological sites, soils, peat bogs and lake sediments. ‘Booms’ and ‘busts’ in environmental trajectories were identified, triggered by human action. The continued work with archaeological projects will, in Phase 2, enlarge the regional and chronological scope and produce new data, in which patterns will be recognized and drivers identified of the transformations at local to supra-regional scales, as well as diachronic changes in the human-environmental interactions.
