This project focuses on two questions: (1) how are Macht and Herrschaft represented in Indo-Persian Literature from the Delhi Sultanate Period (1206 - 1526), and (2) how are these phenomena mediated in texts which are written either along ideal types or explicitly formulated models. Besides narrative strategies of expressing the (de-)legitimation of Herrschaft, we discuss the textual ways of representing the indirectly expressed forms of exercising it.
