Spin+Exchange: Theory for dynamics of spin and exchange (A07)

Subject Area Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2016 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268565370

Project Description

In Project A07 state-of-the-art quantum chemistry will be used to investigate the fundamental spin-dependent exchange coupling in magnetic molecules. Thus, the theory will allow for the design of molecules with desired magnetic properties and controllable spin dynamics, which is of high interest for future nano-spintronic devices. The challenges are to understand the exact nature of the exchange coupling in real magnetic molecules, to study static and dynamic exchange-related phenomena, and to connect those to local and global electronic excitations.
