Ny-Ã…lesund column thermodynamic structure, clouds, aerosols, trace gases and radiative effects (E02)

Subject Area Atmospheric Science
Term since 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268020496

Project Description

The Arctic station NYA on Svalbard is located in a hot spot of Arctic climate changes. It continuously provides meteorological data from the surface to the upper atmosphere. The data record has been extended and new instruments were added during the 8+ years of (AC)3. These data sets enable us to investigate atmospheric processes that cause and contribute to Arctic amplification in detail. In conjunction with modeling activities, we will investigate process relationships between the thermodynamic structure, cloud properties, radiation, precipitation, aerosols, trace gases and large scale atmospheric dynamics.
