Interactions between atmosphere and sea ice-ocean in the Arctic (D03)

Subject Area Atmospheric Science
Term since 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268020496

Project Description

Atmosphere-ice-ocean interactions shape the Arctic climate system and are part of feedback processes, which are relevant for Arctic amplification. We study sea-ice processes, such as leads and ice thickness, and how their changes are related to sea-ice dynamics, such as ice drift. Associated with this, we quantify the atmospheric forcing, particularly the cyclone effects, on the sea ice both today and for the future evolution of Arctic amplification.
