Nuclear matter equation of state for astrophysical applications (B05)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term since 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279384907

Project Description

The goal of project B05 is to determine of the nuclear matter equation of state over a wide range of densities, temperatures, and proton fractions including systematic theoretical uncertainties. To this end, we are combining two complementary approaches, chiral effective field theory at low densities and the functional renormalization group based on quark-gluon dynamics at high densities. The complementarity of the approaches allows for independent benchmarks at intermediate densities. The results will be provided for use in astrophysical simulations.
