Constraining nuclear matrix elements for fundamental symmetries (B03)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term from 2016 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279384907

Project Description

In project B03 we will study nuclear structure aspects involved in nuclear matrix elements for neutrinoless double-beta decay and in dark matter direct detection. This provides support for worldwide research activi-ties in the fields of astroparticle and particle physics. We will perform elastic and inelastic electron scatter-ing experiments for the structure factors of xenon isotopes as well as nuclear resonance fluorescence and electron scattering experiments to study shape-mixing effects in nuclei involved in double-beta decay.
