Project Details
Strong interactions beyond the neutron drip line (A06)
Subject Area
Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279384907
Project A06 studies nuclear forces by measuring the properties of neutron-rich systems at and beyond the neutron dripline. Following the observation of a correlated 4n system in the second funding period, we will focus on the investigation of multi-neutron systems. This includes a program to study their correlations, with an emphasis on the tetra-neutron system, by a direct detection of the neutrons in the reactions with the HIME detector. In addition, it will allow to probe even larger neutron systems, and search for 6n correlations. The experiments will be conducted at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory in Japan.
