It took over 40 years of lexicographic work to complete the revised edition of the Deutsches Wörterbuch by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. The edition replaces the oldest articles covering the letters A to F of the first edition, which are only of historical interests by today's standards. Nonetheless, the articles of the revised edition are often getting ignored since they are not available online. The project aims at (retro) digitalizing and electronic publishing the revised edition, linking it with the first edition and integrating it into the Trierer Wörterbuchnetz, the Digitales Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache and the digital platform of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The annotation by TEI standards enables new lexicographic and metalexicographic analyses. Linking articles and sources utilizes the reference structure of the dictionary. Thus, a reasonable interdisciplinary scientific need is satisfied.
