The objectives of the Scientific Information Service Latin America, Caribbean and Latino Studies focus on two complementary fields of action in the second funding phase: information and networking. The aim of the field of action information is the need-based care of the research communities. The researchers are directly involved in the procurement, preparation and deployment processes. Information is prepared according to the specific requirements of the various research communities and preferably provided in electronic form as directly as possible and independently of time and place. The aim of the networking activity field is the comprehensive communication and exchange between the FID and the research communities or the networking of these through the FID. The FID sees itself as a catalyst for networking processes between FIDs and research communities, between researchers and between the different regional and disciplinary FIDs, in which Latin America, the Caribbean and their transregional interdependencies play a role. For this purpose, modern tools of academic communication are set up and community building is actively encouraged. In addition, the internationalization of Latin American research in Germany is being supported both in Latin America and in the context of the regional links between Latin America and other regions of the world. The main target groups are researchers working in the German-speaking world, especially in the humanities, cultural and social sciences, who deal with Latin America, the Caribbean and Latino Studies in different contexts.
