The goal is to provide information and services for the whole field of Romance studies tailored to the needs of researchers and covering Romance linguistics, literature, media, cultural and translation studies as well as didactics. Regarding the acquisition and indexing of literature along with providing access to it, the partners of the Specialised Information Service (SIS) focus on Franco-Romance studies, Italian studies, Iberian studies (continental Spanish and Portuguese), Catalan and Occitan studies as well as Galician, Rhaeto-Romance and Sardinian studies. Bibliographic references for Latin American and Balkan Romance studies are being provided by related Specialised Information Services. The acquisitions scheme follows the requirements of highly specialized research in Romance studies in Germany and includes both electronic publications and films. A multitude of in-house indexing activities warrant that acquired literature is easily findable. This will also improve the still insufficient situation regarding bibliographic records of articles and specific ressources in the field of Romance studies. Simultaneously, the SIS participates in the enrichment of authority data and their linking through Semantic Web technologies. The priorities both in acquisitions and specialised services will be continuously developed in close contact with the academic experts according to their needs. AI-augmented technologies will be tested for use in automated indexing and in support of visualized research networks. In addition to the project’s own web-portal, fid-romanistik.de, the library services will also be presented via the established communication platform romanistik.de, and relevant content will be interlinked with information on researchers and projects provided there. Sustainable research data management and open access publication services are being developed in close cooperation between the Specialised Information Service and the AG Digitale Romanistik (Working Group on Digital Romance Studies). Moreover, the SIS maintains an open access repository for publications in the field of Romance studies.
