The common goal of the applicants is to make scientific resources widely available for researchers. The past focus of the scientific information service succeeds to reflect the needs of the geoscience community regarding information supply and infrastructures, therefore the work program of the first project phases would be continued and refined. The focus lies on the development of a location independent information and advisory service under synergetic utilization adjusted to the needs of the researchers. An addidional important value should be the intense examination of open science in general and its establishment in the geoscience community. The subjects of information offered by the FID includes Open Access electronic publishing, and publication of research data. In this respect, the integration of important research data and the transition of relevant scientific journals are pursued. In order to continue the digital delivery of research-relevant grey publications as well as copyright-free prints via GEO-LEOe-docs which would be adapted and expanded with additional publications. In all phases of the project, the communication with the scientists will take center stage, because only in close cooperation with them an efficient and science-related professional information service can be provided. The established contacts with the community are maintained via various communication channels.
