Synthesis of Covalently Linked Organic Frameworks via Reversible Nitroxide-Exchange Reaction (C05)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 259079535
The aim of this project is to synthesise molecularly precise polymer networks. Our approach is based on the nitroxide exchange reaction (NER) to combine multitopic molecular components. The reversible and dynamic nature of NER allows self-assembly and error correction during synthesis, and additionally offers the possibility to include monomers within the networks via nitroxide mediated polymerisation (NMP). In an advanced approach we will implement sensitised alkoxyamines, generating photodynamic covalent bonds in the networks. This approach will allow us to shift the reaction equilibrium of the networks, form solution to solid state, using light and temperature as triggers.
