Highly Cross-Linked Polymers for Functional Organic Multi-Layers (C02)

Subject Area Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Term from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 259079535

Project Description

Molecularly ordered 3D emitter networks will be developed to simultaneously enable two concepts to improve the outcoupling of OLEDs. By aligning the orientation of emitter molecules, the direction of the molecular transition dipole moments and thus their preferential emission direction will be controlled. By introducing chiral emitter molecules, such as paracyclophanes, circularly polarised electroluminescence is generated, which can pass without loss through external polarisers, commonly used to improve the contrast of OLED displays. Thus, the outcoupling efficiency can be improved two-fold.
