The main research filed of the group is investigation of electrical, caloric, spin transport and dynamic properties of magnetic nanostructures, driven by different stimuli including, spin polarized electric and pure spin currents. Several years ago we have invented the near field Brillouin light scattering (BLS) technique, where the information on the magnetic dynamics is gathered with unprecedented spatial resolution of 55 nm. For this purpose a homemade atomic force microscope (AFM) was incorporated into BLS system. The proposed system will be based on the modern commercial AFM, which allows mapping of topography, static magnetic properties, near field inelastic light scattering. Besides the device will be equipped with the homemade system for mapping of temperature and thermal conductivity. The entire system will be incorporated into the BLS spectrometer for investigation of magnetic dynamics at thenanoscale. Thus, at one place mapping of topography, both spin¿ and lattice temperatures, magnon dynamics, thermal conductivity on magnetic and non magnetic nanostructures will be possible. Beyond the research field of the group the device will be applied for 1. Mapping of thermal conductivity and temperature distribution in metallic glasses will be mapped with a lateral resolution below 100 nm and sensitivity below 10 mK (in cooperation with G. Wilde, WWU Münster). 2. Investigation of temperature distribution in self organized metal organic (mono¿ and polymer) structures important for applications as gas sensors (in cooperation H. Fuchs, WWU Münster).
