In this project, the goal is to develop a new glass-fiber reinforced polymer-ceramic composite (GFRPCC), in which the polymer part of the structure will contain an additional mechanophoric polymer. Such a polymer can change its color based on the mechanic strain it has been under, thus storing the information about the mechanical load it was exposed to. It will be realized by glass fibers as first hard phase which are coated with a second hard phase, a zinc oxide mesh type of network. Those fibers will be embedded and interpenetrated into the mechanophoric polymer matrix. For that, novel polymers and embedding principles will be developed on the basis of a detailed characterization of the novel material.
