Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279289041
The main goal of this project is to provide a realistic and general description of deformation and failure mechanisms for dual phase steels. Therefore different grades of dual phase steel, different loading conditions and different length scales with special focus on the microstructure level will be considered. The approach adopted in this project is characterized by a combination of experimental and numerical methods to predict the predominant failure mechanism depending on the microstructure and the stress state. Experimental methods will be used to analyse the failure mechanism and to provide data for validation and calibration of the numerical models. The simulation results offer additional information for extensive analysis of the complex interaction between the different phases on micro scale under consideration of different models to account for damage and failure. Further, the developed numerical models will be applied to perform different parametric studies.
