Project Details
Silent nociceptors in mice and humans (human-rodent tandem) (A01)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
since 2015
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 255156212
Silent nociceptors significantly contribute to the development and maintenance of chronic pain by their sensitization leading to ongoing pain, primary hyperalgesia, and central sensitization. Project A01 investigates, both in mice and in humans, the molecular mechanisms that underlie the sensitization of silent afferents, and uses electrophysiological and viral approaches as treatment options. In patients predictive parameters that indicate successful local therapy are investigated.
