The project Z serves as a central coordinating body for the Clinical Research Unit and is managed by the Department of Medicine 1. The central task of the project Z is the coordination of joint research projects, the management of the tissue bank with its samples of IBD patients, the maintenance of the datasets (clinical data) and the efficient coordination of expenditure for mouse husbandry, publications and conference travel. To ensure sustainable success of the research group, the project Z furthermore organizes the scientific training of PhD students within the CRU. The project Z is also a contact point for young doctors to be given the possibility to rotate to the laboratory for a period of one year. This program has been very successful within the ongoing funding period and allowed our clinical staff to efficiently conduct IBD research within the CRU without parallel clinical duties. It is our declared goal to give this rotation position to dedicated female doctors to give them the opportunity to develop an own research group within the CRU. Finally, project Z is responsible for public relations and reporting to the DFG.
