Project Details
Materials design for components in automobile industry (T03*)
Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term
from 2015 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 29898171
Primary goal of the work carried out within PP T3 is to make the outstanding mechanical potential of HMn TWIP steels accessible for applications in automotive seat frames. Different combinations of strength and ductility due the variation of production and process parameters are correlated with the microstructure to define the perfect microstructural state. Based on this knowledge constructive optimizations of the parts are carried out and the technological feasibility of the microstructural states is investigated. To evaluate the projects approach a demonstrator part is produced and tested under real circumstances.
