Project Details
Influence of microstructure on hydrogen embrittlement in Cr-alloyed high-Mn steels (T04*)
Subject Area
Thermodynamics and Kinetics as well as Properties of Phases and Microstructure of Materials
Term
from 2015 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 29898171
The aim of this transfer project is to analyze and improve the resistance of Cr-alloyed high Mn steels of the application partner SZMF to hydrogen embrittlement. The impact of the chemical composition on the formation of carbides (cementite and Cr carbides), their size and morphology will be investigated. In a second step it will be analyzed, how the interaction of these carbides with hydrogen occurs, which mechanisms of hydrogen embrittlement result from this interaction, and how they can be suppressed.
