Tipping the balance: Immune-mediated pathologies in CVID enteropathy (A04 (P07))

Subject Area Clinical Immunology and Allergology
Term from 2015 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 256073931

Project Description

Immune-mediated gastrointestinal disease is a severe complication in patients with common variable immunodeficiency. The current findings suggest a dysbalance of T cell mediated immunity in the context of hypogammaglobulinemia affecting the local IgA production and microbiome causing the enteropathy. By the cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis of central factors in the local, dysregulated interferon network, the TCR specificity of infiltrating T cells and comparison to autoimmune enteropathy and gastrointestinal graft-versus-host disease, the project aims to improve diagnostics and to define targets for treatment.
