GRK 864:  Molecular Cell Biology and Bioengineering

Subject Area Basic Research in Biology and Medicine
Term from 2003 to 2006
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273583

Project Description

The programme of the Research Training Group includes molecular cell biology and bioengineering and is associated with the international PhD Research School of the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics. Together with the doctoral fellows of the Research School all doctoral fellows of the the Research Training Group are in a four-week course to learn a variety of basic lab techniques. Thereafter, they have to establish the theme of their thesis. The strong collaboration between the MPI Research School and the Research Training Group offers the possibility to perform studies in biology, medicine and bioengineering. We offer basic science in cell biology, nanotechnology and research in etiopathogenesis of a variety of diseases. The main focus of the programme is "from cell to organ". We have investigators who are interested in mitochondrial disturbances, collagene net work, cytoskeleton, remodelling, leucemia and cross-talk between bone cells.
