Project Description

The research training group in postcolonial studies, at the University of Munich, the first of its kind in Germany, offers fresh perspectives on a relatively new but rapidly developing research filed. The research training group is a polyglot forum - internationalist in spirit, interdisciplinary in method - for the treatment of issues and problems related to the contemporartypostcolonial world. Offering an annually internationally orientedconference, it will also feature regular guest speakers from all overthe world. Topics to be explored over the first few years will besimilarly wide-ranging, including patterns of conflict andtransformation in the Third World, the construction of in-betweenidentities, and the relation between the 'postcolonial condition' andcontemporary globalisation processes.
