GRK 693: Scientific Computation: Application-Oriented Development of Models and Algorithms
Subject Area
Mathematics
Computer Science
Computer Science
Term
from 2001 to 2010
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273271
The research training group of the Paderborn Institute for Scientific Computation (PaSCo) offers several grants for doctoral and postdoc studies.
The subject area is the overlap between mathematics, computer science, engineering, and the natural sciences. The research projects are geared towards interdisciplinary research within the wide area of scientific computation. This comprises the gamut from mathematical modelling and the design of numerical and symbolical methods and algorithms to the implementation of software for scientific problems. Besides tasks from engineering and the sciences, this also includes basic research on algorithms and complexity. With its many related institutions, Paderborn offers an excellent environment for work in scientific computation: Paderborn Institute for Scientific Computation, Heinz Nixdorf Institute, and the Paderborn Centre for Parallel Computing (PC2).
The projects of the research training group are interdisciplinary and fall within the following areas: optimization, dynamical systems, arithmetic computations.
