GRK 690: Charge Density: Theory and Experiment
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry
Term
from 2001 to 2004
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273263
The aim of the research training group is a broad research-oriented education of graduate students in which the charge density, its variations, and the effect of these variations on chemical and biological systems are the central topic. Since the education of the students includes more theory than the standard level they are able to deduce chemical changes from alterations in the molecular electronic features. This approach facilitates to plan their chemical experiments in a more rational way. By a direct comparison of theoretically and experimentally determined charge density we will open new routes to interpret inter- and intramolecular bonding. Experimentally orientated groups in the research training group furnish a large variety of different modern spectroscopic techniques which opens an additional, more indirect, access to evaluate charge density. The essential diversity of very different molecular systems is ensured by the synthetically oriented groups.
