GRK 686:  Mechanisms of Solid Tumor Development and New Concepts of Experimental Therapy

Subject Area Basic Research in Biology and Medicine
Term from 2001 to 2004
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273245

Project Description

The research training group focuses on the effect of cellular alterations and external factors in the origin of solid tumors and aims to establish new anti-tumorigenic therapies. For this the programme combines in a multidisciplinary attempt the fields of clinical and basic life science research, by the inclusion of the disciplines Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pathophysiology, Human Genetics, Oncology, Pharmacology, Radiation Biology and Virology. As a major educational goal the programme wants to introduce MD students into basic cancer research and graduate students into more clinical-orientated research questions. As an integral part the participants of the research training group are offered a variety of interdisciplinary lectures such as a special oncology lecture, educational seminars, and practical courses in different methodologies.
