The key intention of the European research training group is the in-depth training of the graduate students in the entire field of free-radical polymerisation. The education of research students has to encompass interdisciplinary courses which relate macromolecular chemistry, physical chemistry, physics, and reaction engineering. Within this broad area both theoretical and experimental aspects have to be considered. Free-radical polymerisation is of eminent industrial importance. Graduate students after passing the programmes should have excellent job opportunities in chemical industry. For each graduate student an individual thesis programme is offered which is carried out under the guidance of at least one professor from the Netherlands and one from Germany. This type of international and interdisciplinary cooperation provides an excellent broad education.The European Research Training Group provides an excellent opportunity for interdisciplinary and international research and teaching. The study programme offers a wide variety of possibilities to significantly broaden the education in both the core part of topics and in several related areas.In addition to graduate students and postdocs being funded by European Research Training Group stipends, roughly the same number of graduate students and postdocs being funded from other sources is selected as members of the college.
