GRK 534:  Biological Basis of Vascular Medicine

Subject Area Medicine
Term from 1999 to 2008
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 272805

Project Description

The aim of this research training group is to provide the graduate with an indepth knowledge of basic aspects of growth, regulation and pathophysiology of the vascular system. It is designed as an interdisciplinary course comprised of scientific groups with expertise in molecular and cell biology as well as in clinical medicine. The scientific combines the perspective of molecular and cell biology with complex biological systems up to question of clinical medicine. The scientific subject are gene regulation and signal transduction of distinct cell population of the vascular system, cell-cell communication, physiology and pathophysiology of the vascular regulation and the clinic of vascular diseases. The postgraduates should learn to integrate the different facets of vascular biology and medicine into one scheme and, using this background, to interpret current questions of the vascular oriented medical science.
