Project Details
GRK 377: Cellular Regulation and Growth
Subject Area
Basic Research in Biology and Medicine
Term
from 1998 to 2006
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 272107
Regulation of cellular processes and in particular control of cell division is achieved by a complex network of various interacting factors. Cellular regulation is performed by growth factors, which bind to extracellular receptors, receptors, intracellular factors such as Ca2+-ions, protein kinases and phosphatases as well as by transcription and replication factors. The research training group should help to understand more than single properties and functions of these factors in order to understand the regulation of gene expression, secretion, cell division, survival and death of a cell. Projects will connect basic research in the field of natural sciences and medicine with projects in diagnosis and therapy. The programme should lead graduates in medicine or natural sciences and highly qualifiedmedical students into this indisciplinary field.
