The research training group provides a structural basis for the cooperationof various scientific disciplines (clinical periodontology,microbiology, biochemistry, experimental cell biology, biomaterialsresearch). Dentists, physicians and natural scientists can work ondifferent aspects of periodontal disease in an interdisciplinaryresearch team and can thus discuss the results of their research in abroader context. The scope of the scientific work in the postgraduateprogram ranges from clinical to bacteriological and immunologicalaspects, experimental models of inflammation and therapeutical aspectssuch as tissue-regeneration. Furthermore, dentists have the opportunity to improve their diagnostic and therapeutic skills in clinical periodontology. The clinical program for dentists is designed according to international standards of postgraduate periodontal programs.
