GRK 283: Nonlinear Problems in Analysis, Geometry and Physics
Subject Area
Mathematics
Term
from 1996 to 2005
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 271585
The aim of this research training group is to promote young scientistswithin the context of "Nonlinear Problems in Analysis, Geometry andPhysics". The spectrum of themes ranges from fundamental problems inpure mathematics and theoretical physics to various applications inmathematics and physics, to some extent even to concrete applications in physical, chemical and technological processes. Due to theinterdisciplinary character of this program the methods being used arewidespread: rigorous mathematical conclusions of analysis, geometry and topology; the typical physisists' ways of thinking, in particularfrom statistical and nonlinear physics as well as solid state physics;numerical approximations and computer based visualizations.
