GRK 273:  Fluid-Rock Interaction

Subject Area Geology and Palaeontology
Term from 1996 to 2005
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 271503

Project Description

The aim of this interdisciplinary research training group of Earth Sciences is to investigate the influence of fluid phases on soft and hard rocks and the interaction between rocks and geofluids. The general theme of research is to study the transport of dissolved matter in fluid phases, and interactions with mineral surfaces. The research training group bundles the scientific activities of several departments at the University of Heidelberg, housed within the Faculty of Earth Sciences and the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, and the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics. The interdisciplinary programme encompasses the following research topics: (A) Hydrogeochemical processes in limnic systems, (B) Alteration processes and (C) Structurally controlled rock-water-interactions.
