Project Details
Spin-induced optical harmonics generation in semiconductors and low-dimensional structures (C08)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2015 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 249492093
Second and third optical harmonics generation will be used to study the spin structure and spin dynamics of the electronic states and exciton complexes in bulk semiconductors as well as low-dimensional semiconductor structures as well as the spin excitations and their relaxation in magnetically ordered materials, like multiferroic CuB2O4, oxide NiO, and fluoride MnF2. We will focus on spectroscopic studies, namely the investigation of spin-induced nonlinear phenomena at the optical resonances of exciton states, and address spin-induced nonlinear effects provided by mixing of spin states with various symmetries induced by a magnetic field, an electric field, strain or quantum confinement.
