Effect of phosphorylation on the archaellum regulatory protein network (P24*)

Subject Area Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term from 2015 to 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26068018

Archaea use the archaellum, a motility structure that is assembled via a type IV pili mechanism, to swim. Expression of the archaellum is highly regulated and reversible protein phosphorylation of the membrane bound one component regulators ArnR and ArnR1 plays a major role in the modulation of the archaellum regulatory signaling protein network. We want to understand how phosphorylation alters the interactions in the archaellum regulatory network using biochemical, structural and in vivo approaches.
