Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 180879236
Project P18 focuses on the interplay between lateral compartmentalization of the plasma membrane (PM) and membrane turnover, using budding yeast as model system. The group recently uncovered that the methionine permease Mup1 undergoes a substrate-dependent conformational switch that mediates lateral relocation at the PM. In the next funding period the group will continue its investigation in the interplay between PM compartments and membrane turnover by focusing on (i) the role of tetraspanner proteins for segregation and internalization of endocytic cargos, and (ii) the spatial regulation and control of exocytosis at the PM.
