Role of supercomplexes in respiration and import for functional adaptation of mitochondria (P16)

Project P16 investigates the role of a dynamic assembly of mitochondrial membrane protein complexes to build functional microcompartments. Within the next funding period, the group will (i) analyze the functional significance, regulation, and biophysical parameters involved in respiratory supercomplex assembly, and (ii) dissect the dynamic assembly of receptor subunit to the translocase of the outer mitochondrial membrane (TOM) under demand. The results of both projects will reveal how lateral protein dynamics of mitochondrial microcompartments control their respective activities.
