Project Details
Molecular basis of disturbed sarcomere function in diabetic and non-diabetic remote myocardium (A02)
Subject Area
Anatomy and Physiology
Term
from 2015 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236177352
TP A02 investigates the causes for the impaired pump function of non-ischemic heart tissue in the early phase after myocardial infarction using mouse models. Specifically, the project will evaluate the role of posttranslational modifications of sarcomere proteins, altered cardiac calcium homeostasis, and modified protein quality control for cardiac function. Our particular interest applies to diabetes mellitus that seems to impair the functional adaptation after myocardial infarction. The expected results should allow conclusions about the potential of the investigated mechanisms as targets for therapeutic intervention.
